Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit himalayanobserver.com ("the site"), published by Himalayan Observer Media Services ("we", "us"), and the rights you have. It is written with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in mind.
Reading the site
- No account needed. You can read everything on the site without registering or signing in.
- No cookies for readers. The public site does not set cookies, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking technologies.
- Delivery and security. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses, browser details and the pages requested in order to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Error records. If a page fails to load, we keep a short technical record (the page address and error details, without your IP address) for up to 7 days so that we can fix the problem.
- Audience statistics. If we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people read the site, it provides aggregated statistics only and does not use cookies or track individual visitors.
Embedded content and sharing
- Some articles include posts embedded from X (formerly Twitter) or videos from YouTube. Embedded posts are loaded from X when you view the article, and X's privacy policy applies. For YouTube videos, a preview image is loaded from YouTube's servers, and the video itself loads only when you choose to play it; YouTube's privacy policy then applies.
- On larger screens, the header may show market prices supplied by TradingView. They are loaded from TradingView's servers after the page has loaded, and TradingView's privacy policy applies to them.
- The share buttons on articles are ordinary links. Nothing is sent to a social network unless you click one.
- Links to other websites are governed by those websites' own privacy policies.
