Corrections Policy
We work hard to get things right. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and openly.
How to request a correction
- a link to the article;
- the specific information you believe is wrong;
- any evidence that supports the correction.
How we handle requests
- An editor reviews every request and, where necessary, checks with the reporter and the original sources.
- Factual errors are corrected in the article. A note at the end of the article explains what was corrected and when.
- Clarifications are added when an article was accurate but could be misunderstood, or lacked important context.
- Updates to a developing story are marked with the time of the update.
- We do not remove published articles simply because they are unwelcome. Removal is reserved for serious legal or ethical reasons, and where we remove an article we say so in its place where we can.
Each article shows when it was published and, where relevant, when it was last updated.
Complaints under the Code of Ethics
If your concern is a breach of the Code of Ethics rather than a simple factual error, you can also complain to our Grievance Officer; see Grievance Redressal.
